Continuing education is important for a successful working life. Only people who stay „on the ball“ can secure and improve their chances on the labour market in the long term.
The Continuing Education Grant was introduced to enable
more people to improve their job opportunities through
continuing education – particularly those people who in the
past have found it difficult to foot the
cost of further training due to their limited
income. It supports the funding of individual
continuing vocational education.
There are about 450 counselling centres in
Germany.
This continuing education grant will be up to a maximum
of 500 euro. Every employed persons is entitled to a grant
voucher if his or her current taxabe annual income does not
exceed 25.600 euros (or 51.200 euros in the case of partners
who are assessed jointly for tax purposes).
Beside the voucher is also the Continuing Education
Savings Plan. It allows people to withdraw savings
accumulated under the Capital Formation Act (VermBG) and use
these funds to finance continuing education measures. They do
not lose their employee‘s savings premium. No
income ceilings apply in theses cases. This makes it easier
to finance more extensive and often longer further training
courses.
